Matt Miller

Matt Miller is Co-Founder and CEO of OKO Labs, the AI operating system for teamwork. Matt founded OKO to give teachers the extra set of hands they need to make small-group work possible, so every student can build the durable skills schools care about most: communication, collaboration, critical thinking, and persistence. OKO's thesis is that those skills are neither soft nor unmeasurable, and that they grow in the one setting where they actually surface, which is students working through hard problems together. That puts OKO against the grain of the industry. The default design for AI in education has become one student, one screen, a private conversation with a chatbot. OKO is the opposite bet, using AI to get students talking to each other rather than to a machine, and giving teachers a read on both the academic work and the collaboration in every group. The vision is infrastructure for collaborative learning across subjects and ages. Before founding OKO, Matt was Chief Technology Officer and VP of Labs at Amplify and VP of Product at Flatiron School, and he co-founded Stories Bookshop + Storytelling Lab in Brooklyn, New York, with his wife. He holds a BS and an MS in computer science from Columbia University, and began his career out of graduate school in the early 2000s working on AI, machine learning, and network security. He lives in New York's mid-Hudson Valley with his wife, two kids, and a coterie of pets.
