
Maureen is a VP of Engineering in the Learning & Sustainability organization at Google, where she spearheads initiatives to revolutionize learning and education within Google's ecosystem (Search, YouTube, Gemini, NotebookLM and more). Her work centers on harnessing AI to create scalable, personalized tutoring experiences that empower students, teachers, and lifelong learners globally to discover their passions and acquire new skills. Previously, Maureen led the Core Sustainability team, coordinating high-impact, cross-organizational initiatives and leveraging AI and information innovation to identify solutions for combating climate change and building a sustainable future. Before joining Learning & Sustainability, she led the Google App & Discover Engineering Teams, pioneering AI-driven personalization to deliver tailored content feeds to over a billion users. She also dedicated many years to improving Google ranking in the company's early years. Maureen joined Google in 2003. She holds a Master's degree in Computer Science from the University of California, Santa Barbara, and a Master's degree in engineering from Université Catholique de Louvain. She is originally from Belgium.
