Michael Lee

Senator Michael Lee served in the North Carolina Senate from 2014-2018 and has been serving in the same role since 2021 to present. Senator Lee is currently a co-chair of the NC Senate Education Policy Committee and Base Budget Committee. Senator Lee also serves as a member of the Finance, Judiciary and Rules Committees in the North Carolina Senate. Prior to his service in the North Carolina Senate, Senator Lee served on the NCDOT Board of Transportation and Chaired the NC Port Authority. Outside of Senator Lee’s legislative roles, he currently serves on the Board of Directors for The Hunt Institute, is a Hunt-Kean Fellow, a member of the Board of Directors for MyFuturesNC, serves on the Board of Advisors for the North Carolina Education Corps, is a member of the Education Commission of the States and the Education Committee of the Council of State Governments Southern Office.Senator Lee is a graduate of UNC Chapel Hill and the Wake Forest University School of Law. Senator Lee practices law in North Carolina and has been recognized through the years through inclusion in The Best Lawyers of America directory, Business North Carolina Magazine’s Legal Elite, and Law & Politics Magazine Super Lawyer designation.
