Michael Troop

Chief Learning Officer

ASU Prep

I design systems that help learners and learning institutions flourish. As Chief Learning Officer at ASU Preparatory Academy, I lead the instructional architecture for one of the nation's most distinctive K-12 networks; one built inside a research university and charged with proving that all students can access a college-ready, university-connected education. My work sits at the intersection of learning science, school improvement, and institutional design. I translate research into replicable systems: frameworks teachers can use, tools leaders can deploy, and pathways students can see themselves in. I am especially focused on what it takes to move a school from compliance to genuine instructional coherence and how that shift unlocks outcomes no intervention program alone can produce. Before ASU Prep, I served as Director of Academic Experience Design at ASU's University College, where innovations my team built increased the likelihood of students earning a B or better in college courses by 20%. Earlier in my career, I served as Superintendent and Associate Superintendent across a 24-school network, and as a faculty member and Teacher Residency Director at National Louis University in Chicago.
