Richard G. Baraniuk

Prof. Richard G. Baraniuk is the Founder and Director of OpenStax and SafeInsights and the C. Sidney Burrus Professor in Electrical and Computer Engineering at Rice University. As an artificial intelligence expert and a pioneer of the Open Educational Resources (OER) movement, Baraniuk’s work has democratized education by creating and sharing free, equity-centered educational materials, cutting-edge learning technologies, and groundbreaking education research through SafeInsights. Baraniuk is a member of the US National Academy of Engineering and the American Academy of Arts and Sciences and a fellow of the US National Academy of Inventors, American Association for the Advancement of Science, and IEEE. He has received many awards, including the 2021 Harold W. McGraw, Jr. Prize in Education.
