Sean K. Brown is the Managing Director of Juvo Ventures, a double bottom line venture capital firm anchored by Western Governors University (WGU) and focused on tech-enabled education and workforce innovation. Since 2019, under the leadership of President Scott Pulsipher, Sean has played a pivotal role in establishing Juvo Ventures Fund I and Fund II, deploying capital into scalable solutions that expand access, improve outcomes, and drive economic mobility for learners worldwide. Under his leadership, Juvo's portfolio companies have collectively served over 12 million learners, partnered with more than 37,000 educational institutions and employers, and disbursed over $500 million in catalytic education financing. Sean brings extensive board experience across more than 20 edtech and workforce development companies, including TalentGuard, BrightHive, Riipen, Wizr, SchooLinks, VictoryXR, Mursion, EnGen, and FutureFit.AI, among others. He also serves as a Senior Advisor to WGU, guiding corporate development, entrepreneurship, and strategic initiatives aligned with the university's 10x vision. A Thurgood Marshall Fellow and member of the National Council on Higher Education Resources and the National Venture Capital Association, Sean is a recognized voice in education innovation. He was honored with the 2024 Corporate Counsel of the Year Award by the Utah State Bar (UMBA) for his contributions to community legal and finance advising. He is a returning participant at the ASU+GSV Summit, having served as a moderator, panelist, and pitch competition judge at prior gatherings. Before entering venture capital, Sean practiced corporate and finance law at King & Spalding LLP (Atlanta) and Ballard Spahr LLP (Salt Lake City), and has taught Media Law and Ethics at Brigham Young University since 2006. He holds a J.D. from the J. Reuben Clark Law School at BYU and a B.S. in Communication Systems from Brigham Young University, where he played football under legendary coach LaVell Edwards. Sean is committed to leveraging AI for education advancement and holds a certificate in AI prompting. He resides in Utah with his wife and seven children.
