Dr. Steven Johnson

Dr. Steven Johnson is the Senior Vice President for Innovation at National University. He is also the founding executive of the Research, Innovation, and Strategy in Education Collaborative (The RISE Lab), an organization committed to advancing research, innovation, and strategy to make the future of education better for nontraditional, working, and military (NWM) learners, especially those from underserved backgrounds. His work is focused on bringing a collaborative and teamed approach to challenges in higher education and in lifelong learning, bringing futures thinking, emerging technology, learning science, and student success science to bear on how to test and learn our way forward together. Johnson previously served as Senior Vice President of Campus Transformation at Southern New Hampshire University, as well as the Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences at SNHU. He has taught as an Assistant Professor in the Department of English at the United States Military, and he holds a PhD in English from the University of Washington and a Futures Thinking Specialization from the Institute For The Future.
