Tara Carrozza

Tara is a creative, digital transformation leader in NYC Public Schools. The DLI team builds citywide capacity to design and deliver student-centered, 21st century learning experiences, a robust professional learning catalog, and learner-centered capacity building to develop and sustain cohesive, adaptive digital learning ecosystems. Tara working closely with internal and external partners on safe, ethical, and responsible innovation of AI/GenAI policy and implementation. Tara is a pedagogical and technical subject matter expert, building on her multi-year experience as Director of Citywide Ed Tech in the IT division of NYC; she applies a learner-centered, co-designed process to incubate, develop and sustain programmatic initiatives and technical solutions, at scale and measured by learner impact. Current work highlights include the K12 AI Policy Lab (adult and student lab), in collaboration with the EDSAFE AI Alliance, and leading development of the AzureOpenAI GenAI Algebra Teaching Assistant, built on NYCPS’s infrastructure. Tara is equity-driven in support of NYC’s mission of bright starts and bold features for all.
