Ulrik is a globally recognized authority in learning technology, known for his pioneering work in adaptive learning, data-driven content development, and simulation-based debriefing technologies. As chief strategist at the Area9 Group, he has led the creation of platforms that optimize business processes for corporations, drive digital product design, and enhance corporate training with intelligent, adaptive learning.In 1997, while still in medical school, Ulrik founded his first company, Sophus Medical, which was later acquired by Laerdal Medical in 2002. In 2006, he co-founded Area9 Group, now a leader in personalized adaptive learning, producing over 2,000 learning products used by millions of learners each year. In 2014, Area9 Education, a subsidiary, was sold to McGraw-Hill Education. Ulrik served on McGraw-Hill Education's Executive Leadership Team from 2014 to 2016, before stepping down to focus on expanding Area9's innovative educational technologies. His primary focus now is Area9 Lyceum, which since 2018 has integrated the group's educational investments and technologies to develop the fourth-generation adaptive learning platform and pioneer four-dimensional education.Despite reducing external board commitments, Ulrik remains on the boards of the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) and Global Underwater Explorers, and serves as an advisor to the Mastery Transcript Consortium, Transcend Education, the Center for Curriculum Redesign, and Moonshots.org.
