Vivian is Managing Partner, Ventures at the Chan Zuckerberg Initiative (CZI). Since launching their impact investments in 2015, she has overseen the expansion of the portfolio from education into science. Vivian serves on the boards of Andela and Yoto, and is a board observer of Emeritus (Eruditus) and Verto. Other investments she has led at CZI include Age of Learning, Brightwheel, Cellular Intelligence, Citizen Health, Ellevation Education (acquired by Curriculum Associates), Handshake, Lovevery, MasteryConnect (acquired by Instructure), NewGlobe, Newsela, OpenClassrooms, Trilogy Education (acquired by 2U), and Varsity Tutors (NRDY). Vivian has nearly 25 years of experience in venture capital and private equity. She was previously at an Asian family office and an investor at TA Associates, Accel Partners, and Morgan Stanley Capital Partners Asia. She holds an MBA from Harvard University, and graduated summa cum laude from the University of Pennsylvania with a B.A. in history, Phi Beta Kappa, and a B.S. in Economics with a concentration in finance, Beta Gamma Sigma. She serves on the Wharton Undergraduate Executive Board and is a Trustee of the Town School for Boys.
