Education was a central pillar of Rahm Emanuel’s two terms as Mayor of Chicago, where he expanded access to universal pre-K and full-day kindergarten, increased instructional time, strengthened career readiness and dual enrollment, and made Chicago the first American city to provide free community college. He remains a national voice for an “education reset” focused on tying funding to results, strengthening accountability, and returning to fundamentals.
