Beyond the Degree: How ASU is Building a Credentialing Framework for a New Economy

The future of credentialing hinges on strengthening the bond between higher education and industry. This session will explore how Arizona State University is already doing what many have only envisioned: implementing a scalable, skills-based, and interoperable credentialing framework that connects academic rigor with workforce relevance. The University is also incorporating experiential learning into its credentialing systems to overcome the experience paradox and increase the employability of its learners. Using case studies from ASU's work with the State of Arizona, YearUp, ServiceNow and others, this panel will map out the current state of the industry-academy partnership and identify the critical hurdles we still need to overcome to build a truly interoperable, learner-centric credentialing system.
