Across the country, educators are beginning to move beyond simply using AI tools and toward designing AI solutions that reflect their own curriculum, students, and priorities.
In this interactive lab session, education leaders will start with a light exploration of real AI applications built by school systems — tools designed to address challenges like lesson planning, tutoring, curriculum alignment, and student feedback. See what's possible when educators shape AI, not just adopt it.
Then, participants step into the role of AI designers themselves. Using Playlab, attendees will build a simple AI-powered tool aligned to a real challenge in their own school or district. No technical background required. In less than 30 minutes, you'll move from idea to working prototype.
This session will help leaders explore:
• What it looks like when educators shape AI tools — not just adopt them
• Where AI can meaningfully support teaching and learning
• How school systems can build internal capacity for responsible AI innovation
Participants will leave with a working AI tool, practical examples from other districts, and a clearer path for bringing educator-driven AI innovation to their own systems.
