Future-Ready Learners Through Real-World, Place-Based Education

The challenges of postsecondary attainment and developing the workforce of the future are top of mind for educators. Learners crave relevant, engaging, and actionable learning opportunities that connect classroom content to real-world challenges—especially in where environmental and social stressors are intensifying, and students want to understand how they play a role in the future of their communities. Educators must design educational experiences that empower students to see themselves as problem-solvers, civic participants, and future leaders, equipped to shape the resilient, equitable communities they want to live in.

As an initial series of course offerings, Arizona State University leverages the acclaimed Resilient American Futures learning modules, to inspire learner agency by connecting students to content of place-based real world narratives, backed by data—increasing understanding of key issues they are experiencing and guide the identification of meaningful career pathways.
