Learning Reimagined with AI: An Exclusive First Look at the Next Generation of Education

The future of education: Beyond access—it’s about engagement.

What happens when artificial intelligence is designed into the learning environment from the ground up—rather than layered on as an afterthought?

This exclusive preview features education entrepreneur SamPaddock, the founder of Next Gen Learning (NGL), and Professor Xiao-Li Meng, the Founding Editor-in-Chief of Harvard Data Science Review (HDSR) and former Dean of the Graduate School of Arts and Sciences at Harvard University. Together, they are pioneering an AI-native learning platform currently being piloted through the Harvard Data Science Initiative, where Professor Meng, along with his AI twin—Xiao-Li AI—HDSR board members, and the NGL team have already supported more than 2,500 students across four intensives, with Net Promoter Scores climbing from +70 to over +80.

In this model, Professor Meng and his colleagues globally deliver live lectures drawing on materials from HDSR, designed to expand students' mindware by engaging them with topics ranging from the history of AI to its impact on the future workforce. Students then work through applied tutorials alongside faculty AI twins, receiving real-time guidance as they grapple with concepts and build their own agentic AI playbooks for their professional contexts. Throughout the learning cycle, students interact with one another, receive personalized readings and audio briefings that connect course material to their individual progress.

Designed from the ground up for the AI era and leveraging AI technologies for triple personalization, this approach to education reconceptualizes the entire learning workflow—not as a collection of AI tools, but as an integrated environment that extends faculty expertise, personalizes learning, and reshapes how students move through the learning process. This ASU+GSV Summit exclusive preview offers attendees a first look at a model that points toward the next generation of learning—where the ultimate outcome is deeper engagement and the ongoing expansion of each student's mindware.
