Through the Looking Glass: Prioritizing Open Dialogue and Transparency in the AI Age

The future of AI in education has the potential to be incredibly bright, but we have to define the rules of engagement…and integration. Leading the academic community in both adoption of generative AI tools and concern about proper use, students are often first in line to test new technologies and the last to be consulted on the guidance and policies that outline proper use. Yet, for educators, knowing when, how, and for what purpose students leverage generative AI is crucial to understanding whether authentic learning and original thinking is taking place. And for students, knowing when and how to effectively use AI as a tool to support—not replace—original work is key to demonstrating their knowledge and understanding throughout the learning process. This disconnect creates an opportunity for open dialogue and transparency that will bring clarity and alignment to the academic community in the age of AI.

The emcee for this session is Kate Sutherland, Managing Director, Tyton Partners.
