The Social Impact of AI: Hearing From Young People About Human Connection & Emerging Tech

With the arrival of generative AI, young people have moved from leveraging technology to connect with others to building relationships with technology itself. At the same time, anyone can alter or generate inaccurate media at lightning speed, forever changing young people's ability to trust what’s shared as "real.” We missed the opportunity to proactively prepare young people for the arrival of the smartphone and social media, and we are racing to play catch up as a sector now. In this workshop, participants will proactively consider the role educators play in human development and shaping students' agency to leverage emerging technology for good while mitigating potential harms.
